Xello Parent & Student FAQ

1. Will information from Naviance automatically transfer to Xello?

Yes. CCISD will transfer a significant amount of student information from Naviance to Xello. District staff will work with students to ensure they have the information they need and help identify anything that may require updates.

2. Is Xello required, or is it optional?

Xello is integrated into several intermediate and high school classes, advisory periods, and guidance curriculum lessons. Students are encouraged to use it as part of their college, career, and future planning process.

3. When can students access Xello?

Students already have access through the CCISD Single Sign-On portal.

4. How does Xello work with Common App?

Students apply through Common App, then connect their Common App account to Xello.  Xello helps facilitate the sending of transcripts and other required school documents.

5. How does Xello work with ApplyTexas?

Students complete their college application through ApplyTexas. After applying, they should:

1. Add the college to Xello.
2. Select "Direct to Institution."
3. Request transcripts and any required school documents through Xello.

Students do not need to reapply through Xello.

6. If a student already submitted an application this summer, do they need to apply again through Xello?

No. Students do not need to submit another college application. They only need to use Xello to request that transcripts and other required school documents be sent to the college.

7. Does saving a college in Xello automatically send transcripts?

No. Adding or saving a college in Xello does not send transcripts automatically.

Students must submit a separate transcript request for each college they are applying to.

8. Do students need to request a transcript for every college?

Yes. If a student is applying to three colleges, they must request transcripts to be sent to each of those three institutions.

9. How do letters of recommendation work?

Letters of recommendation are saved within Xello and can be reused for multiple college applications. Teachers and faculty members do not need to submit a new letter for every college request.

10. Where can students complete the FERPA waiver?

The FERPA waiver is completed through the Common App process when students set up their Common App account and connect it to Xello.

11. Can students track the status of counselor forms and document requests?

Yes. Xello provides students with visibility into their college application tasks and document requests, helping them monitor progress throughout the application process.

12. Should students use Common App or ApplyTexas?

Students should check each college's admissions website to determine its preferred application method. Some institutions may prefer:

• Their own institutional application
