Intermediate and high school alternative academics special education students and those in the Helping Each Adult Reach Transition Services (HEARTS) program were invited to pair up with a FFA student to present either a sheep or goat for the show.
“We are so happy with the continued success of the Unified Show and are looking forward to this event growing each year," said Natalie Terry, Clear Creek High School ag teacher and FFA advisor. "We had more students overall participating this year than last year and hope that this trend continues."
FFA students hosted a practice day where everyone met and worked together as a team to develop showmanship skills and get to know the animals. During the Livestock Show, the life skills students and their FFA “buddy” had the opportunity to walk around the ring to be judged by an outside ag teacher and students. Local businesses also had the opportunity to help support the students and programs.
“We truly love sharing our love of agriculture with students from all walks of life and believe that FFA truly has a place for everyone and there are no limitations," said Terry. "The memories made by all students from the Unified Show will never be forgotten and we can't wait to do it again next year!"
All life skills students received a trophy for participating in the show. A Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Showman were also named in each animal category.
