Recent CCISD Graduate Commissioned for NASA Apollo Dedication

NASA's Johnson Space Center hosted a special ceremony on Friday unveiling the "Dorothy Vaughan Center in Honor of the Women of Apollo."

Eliza Hoffman, a recent Clear Springs High School graduate, was commissioned by NASA to create a portrait of Dorothy Vaughan honoring her work and the Women of Apollo.

"Part of the painting process was just knowing I had this opportunity to honor somebody who was so great in this field and at NASA," said Hoffman.

The ceremony was held one day before the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and spotlighted the instrumental work of Vaughan and the other women who helped the missions succeed in the 1960s and 1970s.

The painting will hang inside the entrance of the building.
