Clear Creek ISD Board Selected as Finalist for H-E-B Excellence Award

Clear Creek ISD Board Selected as Finalist for H-E-B Excellence Award

The Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) Board of Trustees has been chosen as one of five finalists in the Outstanding School Board category of the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program.

The seven-member Board is comprised of President Arturo Sanchez, Vice President Jonathan Cottrell, Board Secretary Jay Cunningham, Trustee Scott Bowen, Trustee Jessica Cejka, Trustee Jeff Larson and Trustee Jamieson Mackay.

“Our Board of Trustees exemplifies true dedication to the success of our students, staff and greater CCISD community,” said Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle. “Being named as a finalist in this prestigious program is a testament to their vision, leadership and unwavering commitment to our mission of providing world-class educational opportunities for all students.”

The Outstanding School Board award, which is one of six categories recognized, is designed to honor those that have demonstrated real leadership in the community based on three criteria: academic/student progress within the district, identification of community needs and specific actions taken based on those needs, and new and creative methods for community engagement.

“This recognition by H-E-B is a tremendous honor that reflects the collective efforts of our entire Clear Creek ISD community,” said Board President Arturo Sanchez. “Our Board remains steadfast in our commitment to ensuring every student has access to exceptional opportunities, and we are proud to represent a district that values innovation, collaboration and student success.”

The school board finalists will now compete for the grand prize of up to $25,000 at the state level in May. To determine the winners, a panel of judges will tour each finalist’s campus to engage with administration, staff, parents and community members.

Winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Hilton Austin.
