CCISD Celebrates Grand Opening of New Culinary Arts Program

Clear Creek ISD and Clear Lake High School celebrated the grand opening of Feather and Fork, the District’s newest Career and Technical Education (CTE) program offering under the Culinary Arts pathway during a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Feb. 13.

The Culinary Arts program, which was previously only housed at Clear Springs High School, has grown in popularity among high school students over the years. The addition of this second program, which is located at the CCISD Learner Support Center next door to Clear Lake High School, expands access and allows more students across the District to gain valuable, industry-based knowledge through immersive experience in a fully-functional culinary environment.

“Our goal was to add a second CTE program at Clear Lake High School to give students more opportunities to discover their passions through hands-on, skills-based learning,” said Clear Lake High School Principal Elizabeth Raska. “Collaborating with Chef Thien Le, our CTE team and our facilities department to bring this state-of-the-art space to life has been the realization of a vision years in the making.”

The program has been strategically added to the Learner Support Center, home to the District’s catering facilities, made possible through the 2023 Bond program funds. This unique location provides students with direct exposure to real-world operations and the opportunity to partner with CCISD’s Nutritional Services and Catering Department. Through this collaboration, students participate in day-to-day catering activities, gaining authentic experience that mirrors professional food service environments.

“I am grateful to our leadership and community for seeing this project through for our school district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Engle during the ceremony. “Expanding opportunities like this ensures our students have access to a world-class education and a clear pathway to immediate workforce success after graduation. That is something worth celebrating.”

Applications for all CCISD Career and Technical Education programs are now open at ccisd.net/cte. The priority deadline to apply is Feb. 20, though applications will continue to be accepted after that date.
