Luke Nguyen, a seventh grader from Brookside Intermediate, was crowned as the Clear Creek ISD Spelling Bee Champion for the second year in a row.
Nguyen won in the 16th round of the competition on February 10 after correctly spelling the word “goatee.” Sophie Tindale, a sixth grader from Creekside Intermediate, was the runner up.
The next round of competition for Nguyen will be the 2024 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston Community College on March 23. Top winners will then advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
