CCISD Continues Streak of Tax Rate Reductions

CCISD Continues Streak of Tax Rate Reductions

The Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees adopted the 2022 tax rate during the September Regular Meeting, which is the lowest tax rate in more than 30 years. The total adopted rate is $1.1146 per $100 taxable value, which is a decrease of 6.51 cents from last year.

The tax rate consists of two components, the maintenance and operations tax rate of $.8446 and the interest and sinking tax rate of $0.27. The maintenance and operations rate, which is about a 4.51-cent reduction from 2021, is a result of the Texas Education Agency’s Maximum Compressed Rate calculation and is at the lowest possible rate without incurring financial penalties. There is also a 2-cent reduction in the interest and sinking rate from last year.

Taxable property values have seen an increase of 10% from last year. This year Texas voters approved an increase in the state homestead exemption from $25,000 to $40,000. This is in addition to the 5% local homestead exemption provided by CCISD. This year’s tax levy on an average residence in CCISD will be reduced by $17.51.

The Board gave taxpayers the opportunity to discuss the proposed rate during a public hearing held before the August 2022 regular meeting. The 2022-2023 general fund budget of $366.7 million was also approved at the August meeting which included a 2-7% salary increase for all employees.
