Homestead Exemptions

Homestead Exemptions reduce the taxable value of the property of a homeowner who claims that property as their primary residence. A homestead exemption generally applies only to the primary residence and not valid on a second home or land. Clear Creek ISD does not grant exemptions, this process is approved through the county appraisal district.

To qualify for a homestead exemption, the taxpayer must own and live in the home on January 1 of that tax year.

Types of Homestead Exemptions

How do I get a homestead exemption or any other exemption?

Exemptions are granted through the county appraisal district where the property is located. Harris County property owners will contact Harris Central Appraisal  District and Galveston County property owners will contact Galveston Central Appraisal District.
