Public Hearing

CCISD’s Chief Financial Officer, Alice Benzaia, presented information for the Public Hearing for a review of the 2026 – 2027 Budget and the 2026 Tax Rate. Items covered were the board-approved budget goals, priorities, and challenges, general fund proposed budget including the assumptions, enrollment, and the proposed budget, the debt service and child nutrition budgets, the proposed tax rate and property values history, as well as next steps. The Board will be presented with the 2026 tax rate for approval at the next meeting on September 28, 2026.

Board Recognitions

Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle welcomed and led the pledge with twelve principals as they stepped into new leadership roles across the district. They are: Erin Schmidt of Clear Springs High School, Cory West of Clear Path High School, Vanessa Reyes of Creekside Intermediate, Jeffery Prince of Westbrook Intermediate, Holly Troyer of Ferguson Elementary, Kimberly Fernandez of Ross Elementary, Betsy Horner of Bay Elementary, Kara Massey of Falcon Pass Elementary, Jenny Toups of Whitcomb Elementary, Chenier Bibb of Campbell Elementary, Erin Tite of McWhirter Elementary, and Pamela Baggett of North Pointe Elementary.

Items of Interest

Assistant Superintendent of Support Services Paul Miller presented this month’s Program Spotlight about Start of School numbers and statistics related to support services and facility maintenance.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Engle presented the District Update about attendance numbers across the district for the first week of school, CCISD’s 2026 TEA accountability rating increase, and presented a back-to-school video with highlights from all the best moments from campuses around the district. The Consent Agenda was unanimously approved.

The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget of $432M was unanimously approved by function.

An Agreement for the Purchase of Attendance Credit was unanimously approved.
