The Clear Creek Independent School District is pleased to announce the elementary, intermediate and high school 2021 Substitute Employees of the Year.

Long-term substitutes Sofia Renkel from Stewart Elementary, Timothy Zerecheck from Bayside Intermediate and Joyce Dixon from Clear Creek High School were surprised by family, friends and staff members for the announcement. They were celebrated for representing the outstanding contributions of all CCISD substitutes.

“We are happy to recognize the efforts of these three exceptional employees who have been with us for up to seven years now,” said CCISD Substitute Coordinator Verna Henry. “CCISD is extremely grateful for the efforts of our exceptional substitutes who showed up during the pandemic and worked hard to support our district, students and staff every day.”

This year, substitutes played a vital role in enabling CCISD to safely reopen schools while maintaining continuity of learning and avoiding interruption for students.

“Due to the pandemic, many employees had to be away from schools for short and sometimes long periods of time,” said Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Casey O’Pry. “The courage our substitutes displayed in stepping up and ensuring that students had a safe, student-focused learning environment was very admirable and appreciated.”

Clear Creek ISD has a goal to reach 1,500 substitutes for the 2021-2022 school year. Interested applicants can visit for more information.
