Students, staff, parents and community members gathered to celebrate the re-opening of League City Elementary with a special rededication ceremony. Community and district leaders honored the school’s rich past and great future ahead.

After the program, students eagerly toured guests through their new spaces, which include state-of-the-art collaboration rooms and outdoor areas for learning.

“Our staff, students and parents have been so supportive and understanding through this whole process,” said Principal Xan Wood. “We knew the end result would be worth it, and it definitely is. It was so rewarding seeing the looks on their faces the first time they stepped foot in their new home.”

The complete rebuild of the 1960s campus was part of the 2017 Bond program. The CCISD Board of Trustees approved the VLK Architect’s design of the $46.9 million structure which can now house up to 900 students. Construction was completed six months earlier than originally projected by moving staff and students temporarily over to the previous Clear Path Alternative building across the street from the campus.

“League City Elementary is truly a special place for students, teachers, parents and the community to come together to learn and create a better tomorrow,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Smith. “The vision for this campus was to literally and figuratively bring the world to the children of League City Elementary while being guided and supported by some of the best educators in the nation.”
