LaptopsThis letter is to inform you of some exciting news about the District Issued 1-to-1 Device Program! In January 2020, high school students will turn in their current Dell 3150 laptops and will be issued brand new, HP ProBook x360 touchscreen laptops.

Your student’s current laptop and charger will be collected upon returning to school after the Winter Break, January 6-17. Exact dates will be communicated to you in the following weeks. Your student may also opt to turn in their laptop and charger before the winter break, Dec. 16-20, 2019. If you are moving out of district, your student will need to turn in their device prior to the winter break. Please encourage your student to back up any documents they wish to save to their OneDrive.

Upon collection, your student's device will be assessed by our technical staff to determine if there are damages. We expect all students to exhibit responsible care and to safeguard their devices from damage.
• If there are no damages, a current Acknowledgment Form is on file, and there are no outstanding technology fees, your student is eligible to receive a replacement device the same day during deployments, Jan. 8-17, 2020.
• If there are damages determined to be accidental, but you did not purchase the optional device insurance for this school year, OR if the damage is caused by abuse or neglect, fees will be assessed via the Skyward Family Access. These charges, if applicable, can be paid via the Family Access Portal or via campus front office staff once the damage assessment has been completed. Your student will be eligible to receive a replacement device upon the payment of those fees. Instructions on how to do so are on the back of this letter.

This is an excellent opportunity to confirm your student currently has Annual Optional Device Insurance. You can do this by looking at Fee Management in Skyward Family Access for "19-20 Tech Accidental Damage Insurance". If it is not listed in the paid column, you do NOT have insurance for this year. Device Insurance purchased for 2019-20 will also cover the new HP ProBook x360 laptop.

In lieu of receiving a district-issued laptop, students are able to participate in the "Bring your own Device" program as an alternative.

Please ensure all outstanding laptop fees are paid. We encourage you to purchase insurance for your device, if you have not done so already – only $20 per student ($10 for economically disadvantaged). Accidental insurance covers accidental damage, but not negligent or intentional damage.
