Board Recognitions

Brookside Intermediate Science Magnet students led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.

League City Intermediate student Christopher Jin was recognized for taking home the CCISD Spelling Bee first place trophy. Runner up, Sofia Phuong of Armand Bayou Elementary was also recognized.

Weber Elementary ESL teacher, Colleen Baldwin and Gilmore Elementary Assistant Principal Wendy Menacher were recognized for receiving their National Board Teacher Certifications.

The Board recognized Clear Springs Senior, Colt Schultz, for earning his place to compete in the International WorldSkills Restaurant Service Competition in August 2019. As the youngest and only representative of the United States, he was chosen out of over 340,000 students competing in SkillsUSA.

Texas Art Education Association Youth Art Month Capitol Winners, Jordyn Guerra from League City Elementary, Caleb Lala from Parr Elementary, Brianna Thanh-Trang Doan from Space Center Intermediate, and Angelina Yoon from Clear Creek High School were recognized and will have their artwork displayed in the State History Museum and rotunda of the State Capitol.

Eight CCISD students were recognized as 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art winners: Alaina Sibly, from Clear Springs High School, earned Best of Show; Grace Hawley, from Clear Falls High School, earned a Gold Medal; Maha Babar, from Clear Brook High School, earned a Gold Medal; Angelina Yoon, from Clear Creek High School, earned a Special Merit; Eliza Hoffman, from League City Intermediate, earned Best of Show; Hannah Nation, also from League City Intermediate, earned a Gold Medal; Skylar Johnson, a 2nd grader from Brookwood Elementary, won Best of Show; Annalyn Matthews, a 5th grader from Goforth Elementary, won a Gold Medal.

Bauerschlag Elementary, McWhirter Elementary, Ross Elementary, Stewart Elementary, Weber Elementary and Whitcomb Elementary were honored for being named Texas Schools of Character by Character.org.

A public hearing was held to present and discuss the 2017-2018 Texas Academic Performance Report.

Benjamin Haney was named assistant principal of Victory Lakes Intermediate.

Fernando Ruiz and Samantha Suhler were named assistant principals and will be assigned to a campus in the near future.

The consent agenda was approved as presented.
