The Clear Creek Independent School District will cancel three previously-scheduled early release days for elementary and intermediate schools in order to make up instructional time due to the January 16 and January 17 district weather closures.

The calendar changes are as follows:

Friday, February 9, 2018 will be a regular day of instruction for elementary and intermediate schools.

Friday, March 9, 2018 will be a regular day of instruction for elementary and intermediate schools.

Friday, April 27, 2018 will be a regular day of instruction for elementary and intermediate schools.

Thursday, May 31, 2018 will remain an early release day with an extended 15 minutes added to the bell schedule for elementary and intermediate. Elementary schools will release at 12:30 p.m. and intermediate at 1:15 p.m.

In 2016, the Texas legislature revised the calculation of instructional time from the number of days students attend school to the number of minutes required over the course of an academic year. In doing so, school districts have flexibility to add minutes to make up for weather closures versus removing a student holiday for an instructional day.

Based on this approach and with the two days missed of school, high schools met the requirement for 75,600 minutes of instruction. Therefore, there are no planned changes to the high school schedule.

Under the 75,600-minute requirement and due to the two days missed of school, elementary and intermediate schools fell short by 555 minutes, hence the cancelation of early release days and extended bell schedule on the early release day on May 31.
