NTHSMore than 500 high school students in the Clear Creek Independent School District were honored by the National Technical Honor Society on Tuesday, November 1. Outstanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from six CCISD high schools, who qualified for the honor, received certificates during a special induction ceremony.

“The CTE program prepares students for a wide range of careers such as health care and medical science, business and marketing, hospitality, engineering, logistics, metal manufacturing, construction technology, automotive technology, computer science, digital, video and graphic communications and information technology,” explained CTE Director Dana Morgan. “
It is through the involvement and teamwork among members of the CCISD family, parents and our business and post-secondary partners that we are able to provide relevant real-world experience coupled with high academic standards which greatly enhance our students' future successes.”

Clear Creek ISD's CTE program reinforces state and national academic standards by providing students training in career areas of interest to them. The goal is to ensure that students are prepared to succeed in post-secondary education and in a world that is increasingly oriented toward highly skilled jobs.

Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith told the crowd of students, “First impressions leave lasting results, and all of you being honored tonight have already positioned yourselves ahead of the competition in today’s highly-competitive workforce. The District formed our six core values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship with our students at the forefront, and I hope you continue to follow these throughout your future endeavors.”

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an organization that allows top CTE students to be recognized for their success in their various chosen career fields. The NTHS was established in 1984 to reward excellence in technical education, encourage students to reach for higher levels of achievement, promote business and industry's critical career-based values and help schools build and maintain effective partnerships with local business and industry.
