The CCISD leadership team is passionate about serving the community. They are dedicated to building a district of excellence and continue to seek better ways to meet the needs of all students.
Superintendent of Schools
From a student to a superintendent, the story of Dr. Karen Engle is unique. Karen attended Clear Lake City Elementary, Webster Intermediate, and graduated from Clear Lake High School. She went on to pursue a career in education which brought her right back to CCISD. Over her career, she served as an assistant principal, elementary and high school principal, and as an assistant superintendent of secondary education. She retired in December 2021.
In December 2022, the CCISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Karen Engle as the Superintendent of Schools for the Clear Creek Independent School District, where she proudly serves today.
In 2024, the Texas PTA named Dr. Engle the Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Engle has a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, a master’s degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and a doctorate from Bethel University.
She is married with two grown children and one granddaughter.
