Planning for college starts now!

High school students and parents are invited to tune in, via, to a variety of sessions to help prepare for the college entrance process.

A special note for Rising Seniors: Apply Texas opens August 1, 2021. Before you submit your application, consider learning more about the application process and get the inside track on what colleges are looking for in prospective students. 

July 27     
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.                Senior Seminar (Recommended for 12th graders)

Learn more about the fall semester of your senior year. Become familiar with what to expect for your Senior conference with your counselor and common questions regarding transcripts, graduation requirements and Senior events. 
    College Admission Essay (Recommended for 12th graders)

How do you make your college essay stand out? What are the most common errors applicants make when writing their college entrance essays? Learn the tips of the trade for writing and submitting the essay portion of the college application. 

July 28
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.                   The Common Application (Recommended for 12th graders)

Learn the in's and out's of the Common Application:  a universal, standardized first-year application form for use at hundreds of out-of-state, and some private in-state, universities.
    Apply Texas (Recommended for 12th graders)

Learn more about the centralized application process that allows students to complete one application and submit it to the many outstanding post-secondary public, and select few private post-secondary, institutions in Texas. 

July 29
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.              Naviance 101 (Recommended for 11th and 12th graders)

Naviance Student is one of the most powerful tools students and parents can use to help plan and prepare for college. Tips on how to make the most of this web-based tool, including researching colleges, requesting letters of recommendation for college, requesting transcripts, and applying for scholarships, will be shared during this session. 
        College Admission Testing (Recommended for 11th and 12th graders)

Know your college admissions tests and which ones are required for applying to college.
