Culinary Arts
The real-world experiences include learning skills needed to operate and run a restaurant as well as preparing students for careers in the food service industry.
The sequence of Culinary Arts courses begins with students exploring the industries of lodging, restaurants, travel, tourism and resorts. Culinary Arts students begin a three-year course sequence that provides job specific training needed for entry level culinary and food service positions. Students gain insight into the operation of a well-run restaurant including management, planning, staffing, and controlling a variety of food service operations. Students in Advanced Culinary Arts learn more advanced techniques of food preparation, creating menus, equipment and technology and access to real-world experience. These courses culminate in the opportunity for students to take the ServSafe Certification Exam.
The Practicum in Culinary Arts course provides students with internship experience and enables them to refine their skills in all areas of culinary arts.
