Whitcomb DesignThe Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) Board of Trustees approved the design for the major renovation of Whitcomb Elementary School.

Whitcomb, originally constructed in 1967, was one of seven schools brought forth during the 2017 Bond proposals that were at least 50 years old. This major project adds to and renovates the entire campus to bring it up to current learning and safety standards.

“We’ve worked for months on the details and are taking into account a lot of the things we’ve been experiencing over the last three months with our other major renovation projects to really nail down some of the phasing as best we can,” said CCISD Director of Facilities Paul Miller. “We are making sure we are going to give this campus and those students what they really deserve based on what our voters approved.”

In the project summary, Joiner Architects states that theLibrary overall goal is to transform interior spaces through the incorporation of 21st century design techniques to create a more productive and enjoyable learning environment for students and faculty. The 2017 Bond referendum called for a new auto stacking lane, a new walking track and additions to the campus including educational classroom wings. It also includes renovations to the administrative area, cafeteria and library.

Nearly $28.3 million has been allocated for this project from 2017 Bond funding. Construction is expected to begin in May 2022 and be completed in August 2023.
