2025 UIL Regional Track & Field Championships

Team packets may be signed for and picked up at the following times and locations:

• Thursday, April 17 - 4:00 - 6:00 PM – CCISD Challenger Columbia Stadium Fieldhouse Entrance
• Friday, April 18 - Beginning at 7:00 AM - Parking Lot by Entrance
• Saturday, April 19 - Beginning at 7:00 AM - Parking Lot by Entrance
• There will be a TEAMS Technical Meeting at 6:00 PM, Thursday, April 17th. Please email jgrier@ccisd.net if you wish to attend.

NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE AFTER 7:00 PM ON THURSDAY, APRIL 17th

• The first and second place finishers in each event qualify for the state meet.
• Coaches will not be allowed on the track. There will be a designated coach’s area for field events.
• Contestants must report on time to be entered in any event. Any contestant who fails for any reason to be on hand at the time of the preliminaries shall forfeit the right to compete in the preliminaries and finals of that event. (UIL Plan Section 1320-J)
• No excuse will be accepted for failure of a team or contestant to appear at the announced reporting time.
• Lane Assignment will be random within each heat/Standard Lanes for Finals.

• When athletes present themselves to the clerk for check-in they must be, “run ready”.
• Complete uniform must be on their body with number attached to their uniform top.
• Relay team uniforms (shirt and shorts) must be identical.
• CCISD Challenger Columbia Stadium track is a Beynon polyurethane pour system. Spike length is limited to 1/4”. Tape/Chalk is NOT allowed on the track surface. Relay markers will be provided at each exchange.

• Please notify Jimmy Grier, jgrier@ccisd.net, prior to the meet that you will have Wheelchair Athletes trying to qualify for state.
• These athletes are competing for FAT qualifying times.
• Students in wheelchairs will be able to participate in the wheelchair division of the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash and shot put. These events will be non-scoring and the participants have qualified by submitting a qualifying mark of performance. The 100 and 400 meter dash will go at the end of each event and the shot put will follow at the conclusion of each division.

Athletes and coaches may utilize electronic devices to aid in the athlete’s performance. Usage of such devices may not slow down or interfere with the normal flow of the meet.

• Implement weigh-in/check-in will begin 90 minutes prior to the start of each throwing event and will be in the metal building beside the field event center. All implements will be impounded and brought to the competition area.
• Weigh-in will close 45 minutes prior to each throwing event.
• Upon completion of each throwing event, implements will be immediately brought back to the weigh in area where they may be picked up.

The National Federation rule has required the use of a 34.92-degree sector in the shot put and discus. The 34.92-degree sector will be used at the state meet and we will use a 34.92-degree sector at the Region III Meet.

• As per National Federation rules, the competitors’ weight shall be at or below the manufacturer’s pole rating with a 1” circular band indicating the maximum top hand hold position.
• Per UIL instructions, all pole-vaulters must weigh in before competition. The designated official will begin weigh in 90 minutes prior to competition. Weigh in will close 20 minutes prior to competition time. It is the Coaches responsibility to present this verification form to the officials prior to competition, to ensure the athletes are competing on the appropriate pole for their weight.
• Weigh in will be in the visitor’s training room on the Team Camp side, under the balcony.

Officials will escort competitors to the track prior to each race, as well as to the exit gate upon completion of each race. Access will be allowed only through the clerking area under the scoreboard. Athlete’s MUST check in with the clerk in the clerking area before they will be allowed on the track or infield.

Protests must be lodged in writing to the designated official within thirty minutes of the results being posted. The designee will notify the referee.

• The Pole Vault will progress at 6” increments. The High Jump will progress at 2” increments.
• When four jumpers are left, the pole vault will progress at 3” increments. The high jump will progress in 1” increments
• Opening heights will be announced at the technical meeting based on entries.

• Ties in High Jump and Pole Vault - any tie that involves places 1st - 6th will be required to compete in a tie breaker. All tie breakers will take place once the competition is completed (it is the responsibility of the athletes and coaches to be present, an announcement will be made once the competition is completed).
• Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault - athletes are not permitted to run backwards on the runway before, during or after the competition.

Heats will be seeded according to Area times, but lanes will be random within the heats, Finals will be seeded based on prelim times-standard lanes.

The track will be open at the following times for relay practice ONLY:

Friday

• 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM 6A ONLY
• 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM 5A ONLY

Saturday

• 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM All Relays

RELAY CARDS WITH ATHLETES NAMES MUST BE TURNED INTO THE CLERKING TENT EACH DAY
