Clear Creek ISD was formed in 1948 with a consolidation of the schools in Kemah, League City, Seabrook and Webster. The District now serves 12 municipalities in Galveston and Harris Counties.
  
     
 
   
Clear Creek ISD educates more than 35,000 students and is the 27th largest of the 1,037 school districts in Texas.
 
     
 
   
Clear Creek ISD has more than 4,000 employees and is one of the largest employers in the area.
 
   
   
Our graduating Class of 2005 earned $17 million in scholarship offers from colleges and universities across the nation.

Clear Creek ISD earned the Texas Education Agency’s Recognized rating for the eighth consecutive year in 2004. This is the highest ranking earned by any district with 25,000 or more students.

Demographics  

The Clear Creek Independent School District is a highly educated and diverse community committed to excellence in education, ensuring all students graduate ready to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world with the desire to be life-long learners.

Our district serves more than 35,000 students and is averaging 1,200 to 1,400 new students each school year.

  Projected Enrollment  
 

Enrollment is booming in Clear Creek ISD. The district averaged more than 1,000 new students each year for the last five years.

A recent demographic analysis by MetroStudy, Inc. indicates the district will serve 52,200 students by the year 2020.

  
 
 

 

  
 

Clear Creek ISD receives most of its revenue from local property taxes. Local taxpayers contribute 84.7% of our revenues with state funding contributing another 15.1%. This is a decline in state funding of 1.3% from last year.

Since the only real ability to fund enrollment growth is through local funds, it is important to have a rising property tax base to meet the needs.

Fortunately, we have experienced a gradual growth in property values that has helped the district fund student growth.

Voters approved a $264 million bond issue on February 7, 2004 for district wide capital improvements. The district issued $125 million in facility bonds this spring, which required a debt service tax rate increase of 3.0 cents.

This was 1.5 cents lower than estimated during the bond election.

  What this Means to You and Your Children  
 
Our district is the Lone Ranger – Clear Creek ISD earned the Texas Education Agency’s Recognized Rating for the ninth year. The Recognized rating is the highest designation earned to date by any school district with more than 25,000 students. Six schools received the state’s highest rating- Exemplary, 18 earned Recognized and no schools were rated Low Performing.

  Educational Programs
  • Clear Creek is proud to have exceptional educational programs brought to life by superior educators. Take a look at our Teacher's Spotlight and see some of their success stories.
  • Project ExCEL - Project ExCEL is a new high school instructional model that will serve the student who is motivated and capable of college-level coursework.
  • Smaller Learning Communities - SLCs are small, personalized school settings where students get individual attention from involved, motivated staff.
  • Science Magnet Program - Clear Creek ISD offers a Science Magnet Program and Learning Center at Seabrook Intermediate School. The program is open by application to intermediate school students throughout the District who have a strong interest in science.
  • WAVE Magnet - The WAVE Magnet at Westbrook is designed for gifted and talented students at the intermediate school level.
  • Creative & Fine Arts - The P.H. Greene Creative Arts Elementary School program has a creative arts-based instruction program. Evaluation results of the school’s programs indicate that arts-based instruction promotes success in the education of students.
  • The Longhorn Project - (CASE) Through agricultural education, which includes raising longhorn cattle on-site at NASA Johnson Space Center, students learn science, mathematics and technology skills that are the cornerstones of expertise that will be needed to run agriscience businesses in the future.

  • Career & Technology - The Career and Technology Education programs (CTE) are dedicated to preparing young people to manage the dual roles of family member and wage earner. Career and technology programs enable students to gain entry-level employment in a high-skill, high-wage job and/or to continue their education.
  • Robotics Program - The robotics programs in Clear Creek ISD are sponsored through the Department of Instructional Technology, and are funded primarily through grants, with NASA and Lockheed Martin being major contributors.
  • Estrellas Program - The Estrellas Program is a joint effort between McWhirter Elementary and the University of Houston-Clear Lake and is an educational model in which both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers receive instruction together in both languages.
  • International Student Academy - The International Student Academy is a one semester, accelerated learning language immersion program for secondary students who have been in the United States for fewer than 12 months.
