  Highlights of District Accomplishments

Success stories abound in Clear Creek ISD. Below are some of the top stories that happened during the 2004-2005 school year. [Download a copy of our Annual Performance Report. Download Now>>]

  We've Got the Best

Clear Creek ISD had four intermediate schools participate in the Space City BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) Robotics Competition. Creekside Intermediate won the All Star Rookie Team Award. Seabrook Intermediate received First Place and advanced to the state competition. Westbrook Intermediate made it to the finals and received Fourth Place, and the team received First Place in the T-shirt Design Category.

The students created a robot that replaces the batteries and gyroscopes of a mock Hubble Telescope. The robot attaches de-orbit rocket engines to the mock Hubble to allow for controlled re-entry.

  Congratulations!

Clear Lake High School won First Place at the national Scholars’ Bowl Competition in Washington DC. In addition to winning First Place, the students had the highest cumulative score on the written qualifying exams. Student Scott Shearouse won first place in the history category and Gene Dan won First Place in the general knowledge category. Congratulations to these students and to their sponsors Lillian Wilson, Lindy Goodwin and Doug Polk.

  We Thank You

Travis Campbell, a former Clear Creek High School graduate and strong supporter of Clear Creek ISD, donated 57 acres to the district. This is the largest donation to date that Clear Creek ISD has received. The donation was made in honor of his mother, Florence Campbell. The property is in two locations, forty-two acres are adjacent to Challenger Park and 15 acres are located in the new West Oak Subdivision on FM 518. In Mrs.Campbell’s honor, the 15-acre site will serve as an elementary school upon approval of a future bond and shall be named Florence Campbell Elementary School.

  The Winning Spirit
The Clear Lake High School Cheerleaders competed in New York City at the NCA Big Apple Classic US Championship in Spring 2005. In addition to winning their division, they earned the innovative choreography award – they also won the Grand Champion title for the entire competition. As an extra treat, they were featured on the CBS Early Morning show
during the weather report.

  We're On A Mission

Clear Creek High School Career and Technology students helped build NASA International Space Station training supplies as part of the HUNCH (High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware) program.

  Science Is Fun

Two students competed in the Texas Botball Robotics tournament, placed second in the robot task competition and took the overall second place tournament trophy. The tournament trophy recognizes efforts in design, programming robot performance and online journal and documentation. This year, the Botball Robonauts consisted of Ithamar Glumac, Clear Creek High School freshman, and Jason Klein, Clear Lake High School freshman.

The high school robotics team, The Robonauts, competing with their robot
Chainzilla, returned from the FIRST Lone Star Regional Tournament as the Regional Chairman’s Award winner, Regional Champion and General Motors Industrial Design Award winner. The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics team is made up of students from Clear Brook, Clear Creek and Clear Lake High Schools.

  Sounds of Success

Webster Intermediate School Band placed fourth in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band competition. This was the third consecutive state appearance for the Webster Band.

Clear Lake High School was named a 2005 Grammy Signature School – one of only 33 nationwide – and its music department has been awarded a $2,000 grant. As the Grammy Award signifies excellence in recording, the Grammy Signature School Award is designed to honor exceptional public high school music programs across the country.

  Representing CCISD

Clear Brook High School Senior Michelle Williams was designated the First Tee® Scholar – Class of 2005. As an additional honor, Williams was invited to speak before members of the United States Congress.
