A research paper requires documentation at the end of the paper that lists all sources used in preparing and compiling the paper. To use someone else's ideas or to quote another's work without giving credit is considered a form of intellectual theft. CCISD uses the documentation form recognized by the Modern Language Association in the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 6th edition.
Documentation is an expression of credit and is frequently referred to as the Works Cited. Examples of works cited entries are available in your school library and by accessing the online resources listed below. Your listing of sources should be in alphabetical order, according to the author's last name or the title (if there is no author). Pay particular attention to the hanging indentation, spacing, and punctuation for each entry.
