Reading Lists

The secondary English language arts department requires all its intermediate and high school Pre-AP and AP students to participate in a district-wide summer reading program. The titles you read during the summer are a way to begin the new school year with a shared experience for discussion and writing, and all of the books should be easily accessible either to purchase at our local bookstores or to borrow from our community libraries. Listed below you will find information concerning the program. Please know that all the books on the lists are appropriate both to the thematic focus of the upcoming year and to your particular grade level.

All secondary students that are not in a Pre-AP or AP program are encouraged to read over the summer by selecting fictional titles from one of the age appropriate recommended reading lists below and completing the attached journal activity.

Links to local libraries can be found by clicking on “Other Libraries” at the top of the page.
