Clear Creek ISD's program for gifted and talented students is designed to serve those who perform or show potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience or environment.

Clear Creek ISD understands that gifted and talented students have special needs. “Students who are intellectually gifted demonstrate many characteristics, including: a precocious ability to think abstractly, an extreme need for constant mental stimulation; an ability to learn and process complex information very rapidly; and a need to explore subjects in depth. Clear Creek ISD’s Gifted and Talented Program is designed to meet the unique academic and emotional needs of the gifted students in each of our district’s schools.

The Gifted and Talented Program uses a variety of instructional models for gifted students including: pull-out sessions, cluster grouping, mixed-ability classes with differentiated instruction, acceleration, mini-courses, advanced placement, independent study, and mentorship programs.

Clear Creek ISD teachers and staff members who work with gifted students receive at least 30 hours of GT training, plus the required 6 hours annual update. The curriculum for gifted students is adapted and differentiated in the following ways:

Student Interest – offering some choice in learning experiences
Pace – moving fast enough to keep them motivated & challenged
Breadth – going wider in scope / enriching
Depth – digging deeper into the topics
Complexity – tying knowledge in with other ideas
Creativity - playing around with concepts – innovating

Clear Creek ISD understands that being gifted is a 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week “opportunity” and responsibility for educators and parents.
