Charlene Wright

is a native Houstonian with a music degree from the University of Houston. Charlene has played the piano professionally for thirty-one years and has won numerous awards in song writing. She won second place twice in the Music City Song Festival in Nashville and in the American Song Festival in Los Angeles she took first runner-up. She has performed all across the United States and toured overseas for the USO in bands that traveled to Europe, Greenland, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Charlene has recorded and released three CDs (2 solo piano and 1 “Live at Ovations” with Sharon Montgomery). Charlene and Sharon were the featured entertainers at the Texas Choral Directors Association Convention Barbecue in 1998 and 2002.

This will be Charlene’s ninth year at League City Intermediate, and first year as head director. Before coming to League City, she taught five years at Thompson Intermediate in the Pasadena School District. Throughout Charlene’s career, her choirs have received consistent superior ratings in concert and sight-reading (13 straight sweepstakes).

In her eight years at League City Intermediate, Charlene and Connie Goodwin had three choirs invited to perform at the very prestigious Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio and American Choral Directors Association in Los Angeles. Last May, the Treble Choir of League City Intermediate was invited to perform at Disney World. However, of all of her accomplishments, she feels that teaching has been the most gratifying and meaningful of her entire career.
