From the Clear Brook FFA…
We have been a busy chapter so far in the 2007-2008 school year. Students have been active in everything from course work in class to showing livestock projects and the basic care of to having some fun in between (pie eating contests and barn dances).
We would like to begin by recognizing a few students that attended the State FFA Convention in Corpus Christi this summer. The students included: Megan Garrett, Andy Christensen, Sarah Seylar, Ashley Cates, Courtney Cates, Kyle Steele, Chris Stinson, John Gunn, and Josh Jordan. Chris Stinson received his Lone Star Degree this year summer through hard work and dedication with his projects and involvement with the chapter. Each student was able to participate in leadership building activities and listen to motivational speakers from across the state; which returns to the chapter.

The annual Clear Creek Independent School District Livestock Show is fast approaching. Mark your calendars for Jan. 31-Feb. 2 for the livestock show and auction. Students will be exhibiting projects from steers to rabbits and horticulture projects. Each student has worked diligently with their project and looks forward to you support.
The annual CCISD Livestock show and auction is just the beginning…numerous students will be competing with various projects and judging teams at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Students will compete with their calves in various divisions for top honors. These students have worked hard with their projects all year, working hard for that blue ribbon. Students also have the opportunity to compete in Nursery-landscape, Floriculture, Poultry, Horse, Livestock, and Wool Judging competitions for various awards. And again, this year we have numerous individuals participating in the calf scramble at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo chasing after calves for their chance at catching a calf of their own.
In addition to local weekend livestock shows, FFA meetings, feeding animals,
and practicing long hours with their ag teacher for judging teams students
will be traveling around the state showing what they have learned from the
practices, and competing for various banners and plaques for their achievements.
Students will also be actively participating in the Galveston County Fair
and Rodeo in April.
Good luck to everyone!
