Taekwondo

A ninth grade student can graduate with a Black Belt in Taekwondo in addition to the CBHS diploma.  We are members of Taekwondo USA, which is our National organization and portal into the Olympics.

Club members join Taekwondo USA at http://www.usa-taekwondo.us/ and need a uniform.  Startup costs total $70.00.  Club dues are only $10.00 per semester.  Dues are suspended for this semester for those who want to sign up this semester. See Mr. Kirk in room 264 for more information or visit him at the Expo.

Business Professionals of America

Clear Brook Engineering SLC students participated in the BPA competition January  19, 2008. The web design team of Eddie Dinh and Bianca Massangkay placed first in the competition and will be going on to state in Dallas in March.

The web team of Faryal Shaukat and Sandra Benitez placed 2nd alternate. The web team of Joseph Gifford, Jeremy Whiting, and Hsuan-Chin Le place 4th alternate. If any of the teams that placed for state cannot attend, the alternates will have the opportunity to attend.

Eddie and Joseph were double qualifiers by also placing for state in the Fundamentals of XHTML competition.

Congratulations to all these students for a job well done.

Robotics team

The CCISD robotics team is well under way to completing their robot for the competition in March. Students, teachers, and engineers have been working hard since January 5 to get the robot up and running.

This year’s competition is Overdrive. Each team has a ball that they are to maneuver around a course scoring points along the way. The team can  score by pushing the ball over the finish line, hurdling the ball over an overpass, placing balls on the overpass at the end of game, or getting their robot across the finish line. For more information on the district robotics team, visit www.robonauts.org.
