The grass on the field was imported from Argentina (of course we were asked not to touch the grass). We saw the groundskeepers maintaining the grass on the field and adding a fertilizer/nutrient/soil mixture to the grass and raking and watering the grass.

We learned that all baseball parks must have a fern moss garden behind the batter's box to help with the contrast when the game is shown on TV. This fern moss was in its own little perfect box, strategically placed in a catty-corner garden above the ground.

Engineering, Agriculture, Technology

During the tour, we learned about the design and build of the structure, the dimensions and size of the field and the park, the retractable roof's design and how it functions, the transformation of the design from Enron to Minute Maid, etc., down to the material used to design the windows of the buildings near the park to prevent shattering in case of flying balls.

We also learned about the maintenance of the grass on the baseball field.
