Dear Parent, Thank you and your student for a great start to the school year! Already, I am hearing good reports from teachers and students about the quality of staff members and the outstanding students we are blessed with. It is so important to our school and community to evaluate and better our campus for our students and you are a vital part of that process. As we progress, I encourage you to stay in close contact with your child’s community principal, teacher and counselor to pass along encouragement or to share concerns to ensure a great school year. Excellence For All is our motto and we are continually working to improve instruction in our classrooms. With the addition of a science and math specialist assigned to work closely with the teachers and students in these two vital curricular areas we believe you will see a difference in the quality of education at Clear Lake High School. Additionally, we are striving to meet the increased requirements for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) to earn at least a Recognized rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). As you know, Clear Lake High School has been ranked in the top 500 high schools in the United States which is a direct reflection of the investment you have made with your family coupled with a commitment to excellence by our school. This year we will be taking a close look at the future of Clear Lake High School as we transition our Ninth Grade Center to an intermediate school for the 2010-2011 school year. We are evaluating our current schedule for students and the impact of the TEA’s 4X4 plan for this year’s 9th grade students, which requires each student to earn four credits in the areas of math, science, English, and social studies. I encourage you to contact your counselor if you have questions regarding the new 4X4 plan for this year’s 9th grade students. Finally, I encourage you to get connected to Clear Lake High School through our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). The PTSA at Clear Lake High School has at its core the same direction as the school in that we want nothing but the best for our students. Our PTSA provides information and works closely with our school in making improvements for your child. If you are interested contact us today! Sincerely,
Christopher A. Moran, Ed.D.
