Fourth graders are busy getting ready for their first field trip to the San Jacinto Monument on November 9th. We are excited to be going to the "birthplace of Texas!" and can hardly wait to see where Santa Ana surrendered to Sam Houston!
We are now all published authors, having completed our first personal narratives. Stop by our walls outside the classrooms and spend some time reading about our memories. We are now busy writing poetry and will be publishing class anthologies soon.
Science Projects are on everyone's minds at the moment, as we prepare for our annual Science Fair. All fourth graders are required to complete a science project (they do not have to enter the Science Fair - but since all that time was spent working on the project...why not enter?) so all students are focused on hypotheses, titles, data, etc. Next up will be zoology.
Steps to Respect finds us becoming very adept at spotting bullies and dealing with bullying behavior. In Social Studies we are quickly learning how advance the Native American tribes were that roamed Texas thousands of years before were and how many Europeans explored Texas before anyone decided to settle in Texas.
Math has us problem solving and doing multi-digit multiplication and division. Math facts are never far from our thoughts.
We are brushing up on our "Turkey Tango" and looking forward to our winter party. Look for more information from your homeroom teacher and room mom about individual parties. We are also ready to cheer on our representatives to the Spelling Bee!
All in all, fourth graders are very busy!
