A New Health Initiative

CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) is a TEA approved Coordinated School Health Program designed to promote physical activity, healthy food choices, and prevent tobacco use in elementary school aged children. The CATCH Program focuses on coordinating four components:

  • Eat Smart
  • Classroom Curriculum
  • Physical Education
  • Family Program

CCISD will be implementing the program for the 2006-2007 school year. Below is information on the EAT SMART component of the CATCH Program. For more information on CATCH, visit their site.

 
CATCH Eat Smart will:
  • Provide children with tasty meals that are lower in fat and saturated fat.
  • Maintain required levels of essential nutrients and student participation.
  • Coordinate healthy nutrition messages with other areas of the school.
  • Guide the entire campus towards creating a healthy school environment.
