Please try to join us on Monday for the Education Village Groundbreaking at 4 p.m. This K-12 park is a first for Texas. The Education Village is located next to the Mar Bella development on Highway 96 before you reach Highway 146 or you can park at the ESC and take the bus over at 3:30 p.m. Please RSVP to the Office of Public Information at 281.284.0020. Monday evening, we will say farewell and thank you to our long-time board of trustee member, Paula Tomasi. Ms. Tomasi has been critical to our success. She is retiring from the Board after 10 years of valued service.
I would like to thank the Clear Creek Education Foundation for its support of our teachers and students. This group of community members raises money to help teachers implement their own innovative programs in the classroom, reimburse teachers for the costs associated with earning the National Board Certification, and equip intermediate schools with career labs. During the last two days, community members have made surprise visits to schools across the district to award the 2008 Teacher Innovative Grants. Congratulations to Alicia Hackney, Edna Meeks, Genevieve Ledwell, Adelaida Benavides, Eileen Hult, Teresa St. John, Maria York, Donald Mize, Jacqueline Green, Lauren Polasek, Brandy Magdos, Lisa Allender, Cheryl Wendling, Cynthia Oller, Cathy Corbett, Julie Brightwell, Deborah Kaufman, Cheryl Birch, Sue Hansen, Debbie Moreno, Jodi Lemley, Clay Barnett, Jennifer Vargas, Renee Deckert, Debbie Adams, Alyssa Toomes, and Kyla Baker for your award-winning grants. You can learn more about the Clear Creek Education Foundation by visiting their website at www.clearcreekeducationfoundation.org.
Further congratulations go out to Julia Bodenhamer of Stewart Elementary for receiving a $10,500 science grant from the A+ for Energy Program and Clear Lake High School teacher Lucia Albano who led her Current Events team to a state championship.
