CCISD Receives "Recognized" Rating
Rated Best Large School District in Texas!
Texas Education Agency Grants Appeal
The Clear Creek Independent School District is the largest school district in Texas to receive a Recognized rating by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). In August, the TEA released statewide accountability ratings. At that time, CCISD was ranked as an Acceptable district, versus Recognized. The lower designation was due to minor technicalities that were not tied to student performance, but rather coding and calculation errors. The TEA changed the District's rating in early October. "We are thrilled and thankful the TEA granted our appeal," said Dr. Sandra Mossman, Superintendent of Schools. "The new designation accurately reflects the wonderful academic achievements made everyday in our classrooms. While it has become my slogan, it truly is a 'Great Day in Clear Creek ISD.' I would like to applaud the CCISD staff, students, and community for raising the bar in education in the state of Texas." CCISD is also the only school district in Texas to hold the Recognized rating ten out of eleven years. With the accurate rating, CCISD has surpassed all other large school districts in the state when it comes to overall student performance. Large school districts are considered those with a student population over 25,000. The rating for Weber Elementary has also changed to Recognized.

Stewart Elementary Named
2007 Blue Ribbon School
Stewart Elementary, a Title I school that went from Acceptable to Exemplary in state accountability ratings in less than four years, has just been awarded the No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Award. LaVace Stewart Elementary School in Kemah was named a Blue Ribbon School for making significant progress in closing the achievement gap. "I am certainly not surprised that Stewart was chosen for this distinguished award. When you walk into that school, you can immediately feel the enthusiasm for learning and witness the compassion for children," said Dr. Sandra Mossman, Superintendent of Schools. "I know the CCISD Board of Trustees echoes my congratulations to Principal Debbie Phillips, the teachers, and students of Stewart on an exceptional job well done."

CCISD Pays Tribute To Fallen Soldiers With New Veterans Memorial
Photo from Dedication Ceremony November 9, 2007
CCISD is seeking community support in creating a memorial to honor all veterans who have served our country and pay tribute to those CCISD graduates who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Recently, the district stadium was re-named the CCISD Veterans Memorial Stadium. "It is our vision to have a permanent memorial at the site, bearing the names of Clear Creek ISD graduates who died fighting for our country," said Dr. Sandra Mossman, Superintendent of Schools. "Before they were soldiers, marines, and sailors, they were our students, neighbors and friends. I know the community shares in our mission to create something meaningul and perpetual for generations to come."
We need your help. If you know of any CCISD graduate who has died in combat, please contact the Office of Public Information at information@ccisd.net or 281.284.0020.
