Dear Community Members,
I hope you had an enjoyable and restful holiday break. I am certainly excited to serve as your new Superintendent of Schools. The Clear Creek Independent School District is leading the way in education excellence. I am proud to be a part of a dynamic team of educators, administrators, and support staff. This team is deeply committed to ensuring the more than 36,000 students of this district receive the best education possible.
Over the next 90 days I will be assessing the district's strengths, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities. I have no doubt this district is capable of attaining an exemplary rating by the Texas Education Agency; a feat yet to be reached by a district with more than 25,000 students. We are well on our way with 15 exemplary rated campuses and with our students exceeding the state average on TAKS in all core subject areas. I do not plan to just sit back and ride the wave of success but shoot upward and improve the academic performance of the district's acceptable and recognized campuses. This can be accomplished as long as we remain focused on the academic needs of each child, especially in the areas of math and science on the secondary level. Having worked and lived in this district before, I share in the community's high expectations.
I would like to invite you to attend one of the four upcoming public hearings regarding changes in CCISD school attendance boundaries. A committee of parents and community members has been meeting weekly since October to draw attendance zones for the 2009-2010 school year in order to accommodate two new elementary schools and relieve overcrowding at existing schools. I would like to thank these volunteers for their hard work. The hearings will be held at 7pm on January 22nd at Clear Brook High School, January 24th at Clear Springs High School, January 29th at Clear Lake High School, and January 31st at Clear Creek High School. Feel free to contact the Office of Public Informati
on at 281-284-0020 for additional information.
Sincerely,
Dr. Greg Smith
Superintendent of Schools

DISTRICT SEEKS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
League City, Texas - The Clear Creek Independent School District is seeking volunteers to be a part of the 2008 Interested Neighbors Staying Informed on District Efforts Program, otherwise known as INSIDE CCISD. This is a dynamic community program offered to community members and business leaders. INSIDE CCISD will give approximately 36 to 40 people, representing all areas of the district, the opportunity to take part in an interactive, in-depth 6-month learning experience. Participants will go "behind the scenes" of the Clear Creek Independent School District, meet the people who are responsible for programs and services, and see first-hand how the district creates a climate of success for our rapidly growing student population.
The INSIDE Clear Creek ISD Class of 2008 will meet 6 times between January and June for approximately two hours once a month. While attendance each month is not mandatory, participants will be asked to attend as many sessions as possible. It is important to note that the program agenda will be driven by the participants.
