tax rateThe Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees adopted a $1.40 Tax Rate, which is unchanged from the previous year. In its adoption of the Tax Rate, the Board swapped two pennies from the Interest and Sinking Tax Rate to the Maintenance and Operations Tax Rate as allowable under Texas law for school districts affected by a natural disaster such as Hurricane Harvey. The Texas Tax Code gives local school boards flexibility for one year due to the increased expenditure of money necessary to respond to a severe weather event between August 23, 2017 and September 15, 2017. The adopted tax rate is $1.06 per $100 valuation for Maintenance and Operations (M&O) and $0.34 per $100 valuation for Interest and Sinking (I&S).

In other financial news, CCISD has received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Association of School Business Officials and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association. CCISD has received these awards consecutively for the past twelve years for fiscal responsibility and transparency. “These certificates of achievement reflect our deepest commitment to be the best stewards of public tax dollars,” said Paul McLarty, Deputy Superintendent of Business and Support Services. “Even in these most trying financial times in public education, our team and the school board remain committed to balancing the budget with a keen focus on meeting the educational needs of students.”
