ACADEMIC BUILD-OUT PLAN: 2007 AND BEYOND

The conversations in schools today – among teachers, administrators, families, students and community partners – are very different than they were five years ago. The conversations are now about instruction: what we have learned, what needs to be improved, whom we can bring in to help us, and how we can share what we have learned among ourselves and others. We have changed our focus from teaching to a focus on learning and how the human brain learns best.

Significant changes take place in schools only when the entire school—students, staff,
families and partners—are engaged in the process. The shift from individual campus change to district-wide improvement reflects the district’s recognition that instructional improvement must be systemic, continuous, ongoing and interconnected.

With the increased standards - as set forth by TEA, NCLB, and the state-wide assessment - the local curriculum and district-wide strategies and efforts are critical to ensuring that all schools have the tools in place to be successful.
