Appraised Value |
Every property in the state of Texas is under the jurisdiction of a county appraisal district. This appraisal district (not the tax office) is responsible for appraising property. Sometimes a property can be under the jurisdiction of two appraisal districts. This sometimes happens when a taxing authority is so large that it overlaps two counties.
Clear Creek ISD is one of those taxing authorities that overlap two counties. Therefore all Galveston and Harris County properties taxed by CCISD are under the jurisdiction of Galveston CAD. When this happens, the property owner will have contact both Galveston and Harris County Appraisal Districts to dispute appraised values.
The appraised value of the property is the value that local tax offices use to determine your taxes. A certified appraiser from Galveston Central Appraisal District determines the appraised value of properties that fall within the Clear Creek ISD boundaries (any property Galveston or Harris County.) |

All CCISD Property Owners |
You may have received a Notice of Appraised Value from Galveston Central Appraisal District. Harris County properties that fall within the boundaries of CCISD could also receive this notice from Galveston CAD. This is not a tax bill; the purpose of this notice is to inform you of the appraised value of your property*. |
CCISD and other tax offices use this value to determine your taxes. A certified appraiser from the Galveston CAD determines the appraised value of your property not the individual tax offices. If you disagree with the value you should contact the Galveston CAD (866) 277-4725 for dispute resolution. Only the Galveston CAD can change your appraised value. |

CCISD Property Owners in Harris County |
You could also receive a Notice of Appraised Value from the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD). This notice does provide you valuable information about your property, however the appraised value stated in the Harris County Notice is not used in determining CCISD school taxes. The boundaries of CCISD overlap into Harris County and we cannot use both appraisal districts.

The authorized appraisal district for CCISD is Galveston CAD. Occasionally the appraised value of Harris and Galveston CAD are different. You should contact one or both Appraisal Districts to have the property value reconsidered. If your property is in Harris County and within CCISD boundaries, only your school taxes will be under the jurisdiction of the Galveston CAD. |

| IMPORTANT: |
| |
| May 31 is the deadline for filing written protests to the Appraisal Review Board (or by the 30th day after a notice of appraised value is mailed to the property owner, whichever is later). Late protests filed after the deadline require a determination by the review board that good cause, such as serious illness, exists for the late filing. |
