READING RUMBLE THIS SATURDAY
League City – Clear Creek ISD is proud to host its very first Reading Rumble on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Clear Brook High School. Students from seven elementary schools and every intermediate school will compete.
Reading Rumble is a competition for students in grades 3-8. The rumble centers around a booklist of thirty titles the students have been reading throughout the school year. Campuses held tryouts and created teams of six students who answered the most questions correctly. The seven elementary schools that have fielded teams for their division are Bauerschlag, Brookwood, Clear Lake City, Gilmore, Ward, Weber, and Whitcomb. Intermediate Schools are Brookside, Westbrook, Space Center, Seabrook, League City, Victory Lakes Clear Lake and Creekside.
Author Andrea White will be speaking at Clear Creek ISD’s Reading Rumble. White is the author of three books for children and young adults: Surviving Antarctica, Window Boy, and Radiant Girl. She is also the wife of Houston Mayor Bill White. Books will be available for purchase and Mrs. White will be signing them after her presentation and the Reading Rumble awards ceremony.
Campus competitions will begin at 9:00 AM and Mrs. White will be speaking once both divisional competitions are finished. Representatives from the area libraries will be on hand with information regarding children and young adult summer programs at their libraries.
