Seabrook Intermediate Team Rockets to Nationals
04/15/2008
The objective was a potentially messy problem. This year’s Team America Rocketry Challenge was to design and build a safe and stable rocket flight vehicle capable of lifting a fragile payload (two raw eggs) to an altitude of 750 feet and then return the eggs and rocket to the ground safely and undamaged.
The Seabrook Intermediate Rocket team was up to the challenge. These 8th grade students built a rocket that reached 759 feet in 41 seconds. They qualified with a score of 17 to go to the national competition in Washington D.C. on Saturday, May 17 2008.
The SIS Rocket team spent the school year designing, building and flying their rocket for this contest. More than 650 teams entered this year’s challenge. The 100 teams with the best scores were invited to nationals.
