League City, TEXAS - The Clear Creek Education Foundation recently announced it is
accepting applications for the foundation’s Outstanding Alumni awards. Eligible
applicants must be graduates of the Clear Creek Independent School District who have
excelled in their chosen profession and have made significant contributions to their
respective communities. Nominations must be submitted no later than April 25, 2008 to
be considered for this year’s award.
The selected honorees will be recognized at the Clear Creek Education Foundation’s
eighth annual “Reach for the Stars” gala Oct. 4 at Space Center Houston.
The award was created in 2001 to both recognize outstanding alumni and to highlight the exceptional foundation
the local school system is providing to prepare young people for lives of work and
service. “The Foundation certainly wants to encourage people in our community to help us find
the best of our former students to honor,” said Foundation board chairperson Olive Murphy-Riker.
Last year’s Outstanding Alumni recipients were Ann Marie Mackie Hillis, Clear Lake
High School Class of 1976, Majorie Wilhelm Doyle, Clear Creek High School Class of
1966, Richard Garriott, Clear Creek High School Class of 1979, and Paul Kelly Marcom,
Clear Creek High School Class of 1981.
In addition to recognizing outstanding alumni, the Foundation also honors individuals in our community who have provided outstanding
volunteer service in the education and lives of students in Clear Creek ISD with the
George Carlisle Distinguished Service Award. Last year, Stephen and Mariglyn Glenn
were the honorees. The Foundation also awarded a Valor award to Captain Jon Bodenhamer, a Clear Creek High School Class of 1996 graduate.
The Clear Creek Education Foundation is a non-profit entity organized in 1992 to support
Clear Creek ISD by recognizing and encouraging excellence in academic education.
Composed of business and community leaders, the board has raised funds to provide
grants to teachers, scholarships to teachers seeking the distinguished National Board
Teacher Certification and acquiring Career Exploration Labs in CCISD Intermediate
Schools.
