Clear Springs Campus Dedication
11/30/2007
League City
– Tears and cheers dominated the dedication of Clear Creek Independent School District’s newest school. Clear Springs is the first high school to be constructed here since 1988.
Principal Gail Love was joined by CCISD’s Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Sandra Mossman as well as the Clear Springs High School staff and students as they celebrated the school’s inaugural year. The principal thanked the community for its support. "Our journey is one we take together for our children and our children’s children," said Love, "A walk down our hallways and a look at the display cases is a demonstration of the many traditions that should us serve us well for generations."
A time capsule that will be reopened in fifty years was spotlighted during the ceremony. Students chose everything from a cell phone to a monster drink and the first "Harry Potter" book for the capsule. "It is representative of who we are and what we want to say to the future," explained Julie L. Crawford, the Smaller Learning Communities campus leader at Clear Springs High School.
Another video featured Charlie Kilgore who once owned the land where the high school campus now sits. He remembered the pioneer spirit of old and hopes it can be an inspiration for the students who now walk where Palominos once ran.
