COMMUNITY SUPPORT NEEDED FOR CCISD VETERANS MEMORIAL
Dedication Ceremony Set for November 9, 2007
League City, Texas- The Clear Creek Independent School District is seeking community support in creating a memorial to honor all veterans who have served our country and pay tribute to those CCISD graduates who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Recently, the CCISD Board of Trustees approved the renaming of the district stadium to be the Clear Creek Independent School District Veterans Memorial Stadium. “It is our vision to have a permanent memorial at the site, bearing the names of Clear Creek ISD graduates who died fighting for our country,” said Dr. Sandra Mossman, Superintendent of Schools. “Before they were soldiers, marines, and sailors, they were our students, neighbors, and friends. I know the community shares in our mission to create something meaningful and perpetual for generations to come.”
CCISD is requesting members of the community to contact the CCISD Public Information Office at 281-284.0020 with the names of fallen CCISD graduates. “Unfortunately, we do not have the means to track information by hometown graduation year through the government,” explained Ron McPherson, Associate Superintendent of Operations. “We are reaching out to our alumni and long-time residents of the area to ensure we include all fallen veterans from CCISD.” The memorial planning team is also looking for businesses and individuals interested in donating in-kind services, materials, and funds to the construction of the memorial. “So far, the community support has been overwhelming with veterans assisting in planning the ceremony, the City of League City is helping with the collection of names, and PBK Architects who has donated architects and resources for the memorial design,” said McPherson.
The CCISD Veterans Memorial Stadium dedication ceremony will be held on November 9, 2007 at 6 p.m. at 2305 Main Street, League City, Texas 77535.
