Freedman To Receive Award for Distinguished Service from CCEF
League City, TEXAS — The Clear Creek Education Foundation and Flooring America recently announced the recipient of the George Carlisle Distinguished Service Award. The Foundation will be honoring Dr. Glenn B. Freedman at its sixth annual “Reach for the Stars” gala Oct. 7 at the South Shore Harbour Hotel and Conference Center.
The George Carlisle Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Clear Creek Independent School District.
“Dr. Freedman is a community leader, educator and life-time advocate for public education,” said Dr. David Black, chairman of the Clear Creek Education Foundation. “It is the Clear Creek Education Foundation’s honor to recognize such a distinguished citizen.”
Dr. Glenn B. Freedman, vice president of the Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees, was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2002 to represent District 3, and he was elected to the Board in 2003. As a Clear Creek ISD trustee, Freedman has advocated for nationally recognized academic programs, long-range planning, fiscal accountability, broader community partnerships and Board process improvement in all areas of its responsibility.
“Serving on the Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees with Glenn has given me the opportunity to see the character of a man committed to providing quality education to all children of our district,” said Bob Davee, president of the Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees. “As the vice president of the Board, Glenn brings a lifetime of knowledge to the table. He can always be counted on for his sound advice and quick humor.”
In addition to his service to Clear Creek ISD, Freedman is a tenured professor of education and linguistics at the University of Houston–Clear Lake. He is also president of EduSafe Systems, Inc., a corporate and higher education management consulting organization, and the managing partner of Strategic Foresight and Development, a future’s research firm.
“Dr. Freedman has been a devoted member of the Clear Creek ISD community,” said Dr. Sandra Mossman, superintendent of schools for Clear Creek ISD. “The guidance provided by Dr. Freedman will impact the school children of Clear Creek ISD for many years to come.”
The Freedman family has been a part of Clear Creek ISD since 1976, and both of Freedman’s sons are graduates of Clear Lake High School. Freedman has earned a bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from Wake Forest University. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in education and linguistics.
The Clear Creek Education Foundation is a non-profit entity organized in 1992 to support Clear Creek ISD by recognizing and encouraging excellence in academic education. Composed of business and community leaders, the board has raised funds to provide grants to teachers, scholarships to teachers seeking the distinguished National Board Teacher Certification and training to teachers in advanced placement strategies.
