Rohm and Haas Texas Announces Winners of
19th Annual Art Exhibition and Design Contest
Four Clear Creek ISD Students Named Finalists
Deer Park, Texas -- May 23, 2006-- Rohm and Haas Texas Incorporated is pleased to announce the winners of its 19th annual Art Exhibition and Design Contest. Twelve students representing three school districts were selected from hundreds of entries as finalists in this year’s competition.
Four of the twelve finalists are Clear Creek ISD students including:
Jacy Johnson, Westbrook Intermediate, Second prize ($400), Junior Division
Sarah V. Carter, Clear Creek High School, second prize ($400), Senior Division
Ashley Cole, Clear Brook High School, third place ($300), Senior Division
Rachel Phillips, Clear Brook High School, Honorable Mention ($200), Senior Division

The art also will be featured in the popular Rohm and Haas Texas Responsible Care 2006-07 calendar, which will be distributed in August 2006.
Talented junior and senior high school students enrolled in the visual art programs from the Channelview, Clear Creek, Deer Park, Galena Park, Goose Creek, La Porte and Pasadena schools participate in the Art Exhibition and Calendar Design contest. Students present unique and compelling interpretations of the contest theme, Responsible Care and illustrate awareness and responsibility to the environment.
Since 1988, the U.S. chemical industry, through the American Chemistry Council, has implemented Responsible Care®, a voluntary program to achieve improvements in environmental, health and safety performance beyond regulatory requirements. The program has resulted in significant reductions in releases to air, land and water, major improvements in workplace and community safety, and expanded programs to research and test chemicals for potential health and environmental impacts.
Rohm and Haas Texas Incorporated is a subsidiary of Rohm and Haas Company. The Deer Park plant (www.rohmhaasdeerpark.com) manufactures acrylic monomer used as a key raw material in many Rohm and Haas Company applications. The company is proud to be a part of the Deer Park community for nearly 60 years.
