Parents Invited to Meeting Announcing Secondary Math Changes
League City, TEXAS—The state curriculum standards known as the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) have recently been revised in mathematics for grades 6 through 11. The Texas Education Agency has requested that each intermediate and high school campus host a meeting to discuss these changes and to offer input regarding the inclusion of the new content on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).
Parents of students in the Clear Creek Independent School District are invited to attend a meeting to discuss and offer input regarding changes in the mathematics TEKS. The hour-long meeting is scheduled at each secondary campus. Parents are encouraged to attend any one of these meetings. Times and dates are listed below.
The curriculum changes are to go into effect in the fall of 2006. The presentation will define these changes. In addition, participants will break up into grade level/ subject groups to complete portions of a survey for the purpose of giving input on how the TEKS changes impact the TAKS test.
