Clear Creek ISD Seeks Parent Volunteers for Textbook Review
The Clear Creek Independent School District is in the process of adopting instructional materials (textbooks/systems) for use beginning in the 2004-2005 school year. The District is seeking parents to serve on Subject Area Subcommittees (SAS) to help in the adoption process.
At least one parent will serve on each of the subcommittees involved with selection of texts for a particular subject area. State approved materials will be reviewed for the subject areas of: (1) high school AP Biology/Biology I and (2) kindergarten through eighth grade English as a Second Language. If there is more than one parent per SAS interested in serving, the professional members of the SASs shall elect the parents.
The responsibilities of an SAS member included:
attend SAS meetings, abide by District adoption/selection guidelines and policies,
submit a plan involving colleagues to SAS textbook facilitator,
solicitation of ideas and opinions regarding textbook adoption.
Members also review textbook samples and select based upon the District’s interest. Also, a subcommittee parent volunteer will serve on the Local Adoption Committee.
As part of the textbook adoption process, general hearings will be held at a future date. These dates will be advertised throughout the District. Interested school personnel and the public are invited to attend.
Parents who wish to serve on a particular Subject Area Subcommittee are invited to fill out a form of interest, which may be obtained from the Clear Creek ISD Office of Public Information, 2425 East Main Street, League City.
