League City -- With a growing number of students enrolling in advanced academics in Clear Creek ISD, the District has named veteran educator, Dr. Jo Beth Brizendine, to serve as Director of Gifted and Talented and Advanced Academics. “I look forward to collaborating with the wonderful CCISD community of parents and educators to offer opportunities and support in advanced academics for our students, said Brizendine,  “As our district grows in exciting new directions, we remain committed to the talent development of our twenty-first century learners.”

Dr. Brizendine has worked in many areas related to advanced academics dating back to 1984 when she designed and implemented a high school humanities program of interdisciplinary studies for students identified gifted and talented. She led a committee in an effort to identify and screen students from grades K-12.  Most recently Brizendine served as Associate Principal at Clear Falls High School where she also served as a member of the on 21st century education design team for Education Village. “

Brizendine is a member of the Texas Association of Gifted and Talented (TAGT) and the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). She is excited to build and expand programming for all CCISD students, tapping a multitude of talents, interests and efforts.

In this newly developed position, Brizendine will lead district efforts to improve K-12 alignment in the areas of advanced academics and gifted and talented services. This position includes the implementation and oversight of the highly popular WAVE magnet and advanced academics K-12.
