Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts program is held at Clear Springs High School, but is open to all qualified students in the district.

CulinaryArts provides students with opportunities to receive practical,hands-on training in a professional setting. The real-world experiencesinclude learning skills needed to operate and run a restaurant as wellas preparing students for careers in the food service industry.

The sequence of Culinary Arts courses begins with students exploring theindustries of lodging, restaurants, travel, tourism andresorts.Culinary Arts I students begin a three-year course sequence thatprovides job specific training needed for entry level culinary andfood service positions. Students gain insight into the operation of awell-run restaurant including management, planning, staffing, andcontrolling a variety of food service operations. Students in CulinaryArts II learn more advanced techniques of food preparation, creatingmenus, equipment and technology and access to real-world experience.These courses culminate in the opportunity for students to take theServSafe Certification Exam.

The practicum course provides students with internship experience andenables them to refine their skills in all areas of culinary arts.
