Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technology Program offers students an opportunity to prepare for a career in the automotive industry.

Students begin by exploring automotive technician careers. They learn about technical skills including safety, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, suspension/steering and engine performance.

Students in the Automotive Technology I course experience hands-on training in computer diagnostic programs, automotive tools and equipment. Moving into the Automotive Technology II course, students will receive in-depth instruction in electrical/electronic systems, suspension/ steering, brakes and engine performance.

They will take the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exam in these 4 areas. Students taking the Automotive Technology Internship course will participate in either a paid or unpaid internship in an automotive repair facility where they will shadow a lead mentor. These students will also attend automotive classes at Clear Springs High School.
